Frank Warren Predicts Fury-Joshua Negotiations Will Conclude by End of Next Week

Frank Warren believes that the protracted negotiations for a heavyweight showdown between Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury are bound by a strict deadline, which he expects to be resolved by the end of next week. While expressing uncertainty over whether the highly anticipated match will ultimately materialize, Warren emphasized that the decision rests entirely with Joshua. Meanwhile, Fury, whom Warren promotes, is already training in the United States and remains prepared to face an alternative opponent in November if negotiations collapse.

“Nothing has been officially signed off yet,” Warren commented regarding the revised contract for the bout, which is now slated to take place in New York. “Everyone keeps talking instead of getting down to business and getting it done. I believe it will happen, but if it doesn’t—and there is a time limit on this—it will end up being one of those fights that slips away.”

“If it happens, I anticipate it will take place in November, most likely in the United States. Tyson traveled to Miami over the weekend to continue his training there. Either way, he is committed to fighting in November, and hopefully, that opponent will be AJ.”

When asked about the deadline, particularly in light of Joshua and promoter Eddie Hearn seeking better financial terms from US-based promoters Zuffa Boxing due to the venue shift, Warren stated, “I would assume they won’t allow it to drag past the end of next week.”

Warren also addressed whether he believed Joshua genuinely wanted the fight. “There are things I cannot say at the moment. Do I think he wants it? I’m not sure. He had a very difficult fight last time, didn’t he? He managed to pull through in the end, but it was a grueling bout. Does he want it? Only Joshua knows that. He claims he does.”

The promoter further elaborated, “They are within their rights to negotiate. The original agreement was for the fight to take place in the UK, and while Tyson didn’t sign up for America specifically, he has shown willingness to fight there. In his own words, ‘Get the politics and all this crap out of the way. Let’s get the fight on.’ He signed for this matchup last January, but unfortunately, AJ’s tragic car accident in Nigeria delayed things. Ultimately, whether AJ fights Tyson is a decision for AJ alone.”

“But I am confident Tyson will fight in November. He is actively training. Eddie has publicly stated their demands, and while the exact financial details are unclear, everyone needs to make a decision—otherwise, we have to move on.”
