Adam Copeland remembers first noticing The Young Bucks during their 2010 TNA run as Generation Me, and he notes that their tag‑team style differs from his own partnership with Christian Cage.
He explained the significance of the inaugural clash between the two teams to Forbes, adding that he and Cage will defend their AEW World Tag Team Championships against The Young Bucks at Wembley Stadium on August 30.
Copeland said that his exposure to Generation Me while he was retired was limited, and any rediscovery of newer talents would have been accidental.
After reviewing their work over the years, meeting them, and appreciating their contributions, Copeland praised their unique style, likening the dynamic to classic rivalries such as Brain Busters versus the Rockers and seeing his own team as the Hart Foundation.
He expressed excitement about the matchup, saying it is a once‑in‑a‑lifetime opportunity and that no additional stipulations or overbooking are required; they will simply compete at Wembley, the venue for AEW’s biggest show of the year.
When asked about adding a stipulation, Copeland said it would be poor booking.
He also discussed the contrasting wrestling styles and legacies of the two tag teams heading into the All In event.
He compared the encounter to historic rivalries, such as the Steelers versus the Cowboys, illustrating a clash between eras.
He also used a hockey analogy, likening the two teams to the Montreal Canadiens of the 1970s and the Edmonton Oilers of the 1980s, emphasizing that the matchup embodies the essence of their respective eras.
He noted that everything fell into place for this match, creating many unanswered questions that make it exciting, and said he wants answers.
