This facility was established after residents were compelled to evacuate their homes as wildfires swept through southwestern France’s Gironde region. Volunteers and veterinary professionals have cared for the animals, ranging from dogs and cats to rabbits, helping families navigate the disruption.
Evacuees reported that the presence of the veterinary team provided reassurance during a difficult time, allowing them to keep their animals with them as they await their return home.
