Wes Mendes has been named the ACC Baseball Scholar-Athlete of the Year. He majored in social science and maintained a perfect 4.00 GPA during the spring 2026 semester, earning All-ACC Academic Team honors in both years at Florida State.
Mendes was among 11 Florida State players selected for the All-ACC Academic Team, alongside teammates Brayden Dowd, Chris Knier, Bryson Moore, Cade O’Leary, Cole Stokes, Kevin Mebil, Cooper Whited, Chase Williams, Gabe Fraser, and Noah Sheffield.
On the mound, Mendes delivered a standout 2026 season as Florida State’s ace, earning multiple All-American selections and being named ACC Pitcher of the Year. He also garnered All-ACC First Team honors, was named to the ABCA Southeast All-Region First Team and the CSC Academic All-District Team, and finished as a semifinalist for the Dick Howser Trophy and National Pitcher of the Year. He earned two ACC Pitcher of the Week awards and several National Team of the Week recognitions.
He concluded the season with a 2.81 ERA over 93.0 innings, posting a 9-1 record in 16 starts while limiting opponents to a .207 batting average, striking out 125 batters and walking 25. Mendes is projected to be an early-round pick in the 2026 MLB Draft.
