Venezuela Child Rescued After Six Days Trapped in Building Collapse Following Twin Earthquakes

CARACAS, June 30 (Reuters) – Jordanian rescue teams in Venezuela successfully recovered a child early Tuesday, marking the sole reported survivor recovered after six days of operations following massive twin earthquakes, authorities confirmed.

Klieber Moran, aged three according to Venezuelan President Delcy Rodriguez, was extracted from the collapsed Los Corales Garden 1 structure in La Guaira by Jordanian specialists. The救援 operation concluded his harrowing six-day ordeal beneath the rubble.

The catastrophic earthquakes measuring 7.2 and 7.5 struck less than a minute apart on last Wednesday, causing widespread devastation across the country and trapping numerous individuals beneath destroyed buildings.

Moran, also reported as two years old by National Assembly President Jorge Rodriguez, was promptly transferred to a medical facility in Caracas for treatment.

“We must maintain hope that more survivors remain beneath the wreckage,” Jorge emphasized during a televised address. “A two-year-old boy was recovered this morning and is now receiving care at a Caracas health center.”

UNICEF delivered 47 metric tons of humanitarian aid to Venezuela on Tuesday, including critical medical supplies for emergency childbirths, newborn care, disease prevention, and treatment, as announced by UN spokesperson Stephane Dujarric.
