GB PPP Chief Minister Amjad Hussain Sworn in
Amjad Hussain was formally installed as the Chief Minister of Gilgit-Baltistan, marking a significant political development in the region. The ceremony, attended by his party chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari, highlighted the PPP’s continuous mandate following the recent elections.
Hussain, freshly elected on June 22, expressed confidence in the party’s position, emphasizing the public support and the legacy of the PPP in the region. He praised the role of youth, women, and the general populace in securing seats across Gilgit and Baltistan.
The announcement also addressed the ongoing challenges such as loadshedding and power shortages, stressing the government’s commitment to addressing these issues. Meanwhile, PML-N and other parties showed support for the PPP, reinforcing democratic principles.
Bilawal vowed to uphold the government’s responsibilities until the end of five years. He also called for cooperation with local representatives and stressed the need for sustained efforts in areas like tourism, mining, and infrastructure development.
The swearing-in underscored the region’s critical role in Pakistan’s national stability, with Bilawal promising to work towards unity and progress.
Back in India, Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister discussed the strategic importance of Gilgit-Baltistan, urging India to recognize the region’s significance amid regional tensions.
