Black Midi frontman Geordie Greep has cancelled four performances on his ongoing United States tour following allegations of sexual misconduct made against him, accusations he has publicly denied. As of October 10, listings on venue websites confirm the cancellation of shows in Boise, Salt Lake City, Boulder, and Denver. Two additional US dates remain scheduled in Des Moines and Omaha, alongside a short series of European shows planned for November. Greep has not yet released an official statement regarding the cancellations, and Pitchfork has contacted his representatives for comment.
The cancellations follow an incident in Vancouver on October 8, during which a concertgoer distributed flyers accusing the singer of sexual misconduct. Greep subsequently addressed the accusations directly to the crowd. “So essentially what happened last night, me and some of the band, we went out to some bars, we went around, we met people, and ended up in a situation where, really late at a house party, I got the wrong end of the stick with someone that was there, and I made a move, and it didn’t come off and I really quickly, of course, apologized,” he told the audience. “It was a complete misunderstanding on my part, and I felt extremely bad, and I feel extremely sorry, and am extremely upset about the whole situation. I would never rape a woman. I’m not a rapist. It’s not how that went down.” He added that he would perform the show solo to avoid forcing the band to play “in light of [what was] happening,” and that proceeds from the gig would benefit an organization supporting victims of sexual violence.
