Gerhard Erasmus continues to lead Namibia
Erasmus will captain Namibia during the home tri-series as the team looks to make the most of playing in familiar conditions. The schedule will provide the management with seven matches across the competition to assess different combinations and give players opportunities before settling on their preferred lineup.
The tri-series carries added significance because Namibia, South Africa and Zimbabwe will all co-host the 2027 Cricket World Cup. Facing each other regularly in the lead-up to the tournament will allow the teams to assess their strengths and identify areas that need improvement.
Namibia will also have to manage their resources carefully with a three-match ODI series against South Africa scheduled immediately after the T20I competition. The ODI series will take place in Windhoek from September 9 to 13.
Michael van Lingen returns after two years
One of the biggest talking points from Namibia’s squad is the return of Michael van Lingen to the T20I setup. The batter has been away from T20I cricket since 2024 and will now have an opportunity to make his return on home soil.
