Gloucestershire secured their second successive County Championship Division Two win, defeating struggling Lancashire by 105 runs at Emirates Old Trafford.

The victory moves Gloucestershire further clear of the relegation zone, with the bottom club now sitting on 82 points, just 18 behind Lancashire with two matches remaining.

Resuming the final day on 120-6 in pursuit of the 248-run target, Lancashire’s hopes were quickly extinguished when George Balderson edged the opening delivery from JT Langridge through to slip fielder Ollie Price.

Noman Ali managed to send Sai Kishore’s bowling for six before departing lbw to the same spinner shortly afterward.

Mitch Stanley soon followed, offering a straightforward caught-and-bowled opportunity to Kamran Dhariwal at silly mid-off from Kishore’s delivery.

Rocky Flintoff top-scored with a commendable 65, becoming Langridge’s fifth victim as the young bowler concluded with impressive figures of 5-51 in only his second first-class appearance.
