Google is reportedly extending its “Call for Me” AI functionality from business to personal interactions. A teardown of an Android APK uncovered a “Gemini Calling” screen, illustrated by sample prompts such as “Call Mom and tell her I will be 15 minutes late” and “Call John and ask if he is coming for dinner.”

The examples suggest the new capability will remain focused on concise, message‑style calls rather than full conversations. In practice, Gemini could provide brief updates for users who favor voice communication, tend to overlook text messages, or rely on landlines.

The report further notes the discovery of granular permission controls for Gemini’s actions within specific apps, encompassing phone‑call settings. Such controls would enable users to selectively grant Gemini access to particular functions and could include an option to block inbound automated calls. Nonetheless, Google may decide not to make this expansion or the detailed permission options publicly available.
