Google’s Guided Vision feature is now available in Gemini Live on compatible Android devices, offering real‑time audio descriptions powered by AI whenever you point your phone’s camera at something. The technology enables assistance with reading small text, describing surroundings, locating or identifying objects, and highlighting details on specific items.
Comparable to Apple’s VoiceOver Live Recognition on iPhone and Vision Pro, the tool is intended for users who are blind, have low vision, or need situational assistance. Beyond the Gemini app, Guided Vision integrates with Google TalkBack and can be added as an accessibility shortcut in the Settings menu for Android 9‑and‑newer devices, following its announcement in recent Pixel updates.
Users may pose follow‑up questions about what they are viewing—for example, requesting Gemini to read an item’s expiration date. If the target is out of frame, Gemini provides audio guidance to help reposition the camera. Google emphasizes that Guided Vision is not a substitute for navigation, safe‑travel assistance, obstacle detection, or mobility aids such as a cane.
