Singer-songwriter Gracie Abrams is preparing to release her third album, “Daughter from Hell,” on July 17, with its first single, “Hit the Wall,” scheduled to debut this Thursday night.
Abrams reunited with producer Aaron Dessner, a member of The National, who previously helmed her 2024 album, “The Secret Of Us,” known for its “passive-aggressive folk-pop jams.”
Dessner shared details of the upcoming release on Instagram, reflecting on his six-year collaboration with Abrams. He noted that work on “Daughter from Hell” commenced two years ago, involving sessions at Electric Lady Studios in New York, Long Pond, and London. Dessner praised the new album for its expanded musical vocabulary and ventures into “uncharted waters sonically.” He particularly highlighted the “sharpening and deepening of Gracie’s lyricism and expression,” describing the album as “elevated in every way” and “the most moving and powerful work” they have created together.
In other news, Abrams is set to make her film acting debut in Halina Reijn’s A24-produced “Please.” Tom Burke has recently been confirmed as a new addition to the cast.
