Graham Pauley’s Four RBIs Lead Marlins to 6-3 Victory Over Royals

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Graham Pauley delivered a stellar performance, driving in four runs with a home run and a triple, as the Miami Marlins defeated the Kansas City Royals 6-3 on Tuesday night. Kyle Stowers supported the offense with a home run of his own.

Tyler Phillips earned the win for the Marlins, pitching five innings of one-hit ball, striking out four and walking two. The bullpen contributed with three relievers allowing five hits and two strikeouts, with Tyler Zuber securing the save in the ninth.

Pauley, recalled from Triple-A Jacksonville for his fifth call-up of the season, made his presence felt early by hitting his second major league home run of the year in the second inning—a two-run shot to right field.

Stowers extended the Marlins’ lead in the fifth inning with a 412-foot home run to right, making it a three-run game.

In the seventh, Pauley added to the tally with his first triple of the season, driving in two more runs and prompting the removal of Royals starter Randy Dobnak. Javier Sanoja followed with a single to score Pauley, increasing the lead to 6-0.

Dobnak was charged with the loss after pitching six-plus innings, allowing seven hits and six runs, while striking out six and walking two.

The Royals began a comeback attempt in the eighth inning, with Carter Jensen hitting an RBI double and Bobby Witt Jr. adding a sacrifice fly.

However, the game saw controversy when Royals manager Matt Quatraro was ejected in the eighth inning following a reversed balk call that initially awarded a run but was overturned after umpire discussion.

Kansas City scored one more run in the ninth on Nick Loftin’s home run, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the deficit.

With the victory, the Marlins maintain their position three games behind San Diego for the final National League wild card berth.
