Greg Rousseau Leads NFL in Sacks After Early Three-Game Success for Bills

< p>While Bills quarterback Josh Allen stands as the primary candidate for league MVP, his teammate linebacker Greg Rousseau is establishing himself as a dominant force on defense.

Rousseau has captured sacks in each of the Bills’ first three contests, marking him as only the third player in 21 seasons since the official adoption of sack statistics in 1982 to achieve multiple sacks within the opening three games of a campaign. The earlier feat belonged to Mark Gastineau with the 1984 Jets and Kevin Greene with the 1998 Panthers.

Greene amassed multi‑sack totals throughout the entire first four games for the 1998 Panthers, enabling Rousseau to match Greene’s historical mark with two sacks on Sunday against the Patriots and potentially surpass it by recording two additional sacks in subsequent matchups.

Bruising his opponents further, Rousseau now holds the NFL leadership with six total sacks for the season—a team‑best—and tops the league in tackles for loss (eight) and forced fumbles (three). Current betting odds see him ranked sixth for Defensive Player of the Year at +1500, trailing Houston’s Will Anderson (+300), Detroit’s Aidan Hutchinson (+750), Pittsburgh’s T.J. Watt (+900), Las Vegas’s Maxx Crosby (+1200) and Minnesota’s Dallas Turner (+1300).
