England manager Thomas Tuchel has received a timely boost with confirmation that defender Marc Guehi will be fit to start in tonight’s World Cup quarter-final against Norway.
Guehi had been a doubt due to injury, but he is now anticipated to feature in the starting eleven this evening. Reece James, however, remains unavailable for selection from the outset.
As a result, Ezri Konsa is set to shift to right-back. Jarrell Quansah, who occupied that role against Mexico before receiving a red card, is suspended for this evening’s encounter.
Konsa’s move from centre-back to the flank paves the way for John Stones to partner Guehi in central defence, as reported by BBC Sport, which has revealed the expected England lineup below.

England Brace for Tough Quarter-Final Against Norway
England navigated a challenging fixture to eliminate co-hosts Mexico and will need another commanding performance against a Norway team that should not be underestimated.
While Erling Haaland’s reputation precedes him, the squad also boasts Martin Ødegaard, Antonio Nusa, and other elite talents. Norway will be emboldened by their own impressive last-round victory over five-time champions Brazil.
England supporters will undoubtedly welcome Guehi’s availability, as his presence will be vital in neutralising Haaland. Stones, who previously played alongside the striker at Manchester City, also brings valuable familiarity.
Nevertheless, some uncertainties remain, particularly regarding Declan Rice’s fitness after reports emerged of the midfielder feeling unwell.
Additionally, Bukayo Saka is once more absent from the starting lineup as he continues to manage fitness issues throughout the tournament.
