A gunman opened fire outside a high school in Turkey, injuring at least 11 people before fleeing the scene.
The attack took place at the Inci Uzmez Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School in Turkey’s western province of Manisa at approximately 08:00 local time (05:00 GMT) on Tuesday.
The attacker has been detained, according to the local governor’s office.
Local media reports indicate that two of the victims who were hospitalised remain in critical condition.
CCTV footage circulated online appeared to show a man carrying a firearm on a street near the school, with additional clips apparently depicting him fleeing the area still armed.
The motive behind the attack has not yet been established.
Turkish media have reported that the gunman is a 15-year-old student, although this has not been officially confirmed.
In a statement, Turkey’s education ministry said the incident had “deeply saddened our nation, and our educational community in particular”.
The ministry added that three national investigators had been dispatched to Manisa.
