GWAR Co-Founder Chuck “Sexecutioner” Varga Passes Away at 68

Chuck Varga, widely recognized as the Sexecutioner and a founding member of GWAR, has died. He had been fighting cancer, prompting the band to organize a blood donation drive in April and a fundraising campaign in June to assist him and his wife, Bambi, with medical expenses. GWAR bassist Casey Orr, also known as Beefcake The Mighty, announced Varga’s passing on September 25. He was 68 years old.

Orr’s statement regarding Varga’s passing reads:

Chuck Varga has left this earthly realm. He passed peacefully, his beloved wife Bambi holding his hand. He was one of a kind. As an artist, as a performer; as a scholar and a gentleman. I’m better for having known him and the world is lesser for his leaving. He is most likely being welcomed into Valhalla right now by Brockie and Smooty and all who went before. Raise your glass and tell his tales. Legends never die. Hail Varga! Hail Sexicutioner!

Varga served as a pivotal figure in GWAR during the band’s formative years from 1986 to 1996, making periodic returns with the group through 2022. Born in 1958, he studied at Virginia Commonwealth University, where he met Hunter Jackson. The two collaborated to establish The Slave Pit, a creative hub that ultimately inspired the formation of GWAR.

Following their rise to prominence in Richmond, GWAR cultivated a nationwide fanbase and earned two Grammy nominations. In 1997, Varga departed the band and relocated to New York to pursue opportunities in film, television, and Broadway, eventually founding Hyperreal Productions.
