Hamas Tuesday condemned Israeli military raids on human rights and women’s organisations in Ramallah and the arrest of dozens of Palestinians in Nablus, framing the operations as part of a broader campaign of repression in the occupied West Bank.
According to a statement carried by Quds Press, senior Hamas official Mahmoud Mardawi described the raids and arrests as reflective of Israel’s efforts to weaken Palestinian institutions and undermine Palestinians’ resolve to remain on their land.
Mardawi accused Israeli forces of targeting civil society groups in Ramallah while simultaneously launching a large-scale arrest campaign in Nablus.
He pointed specifically to the raid on Al-Dameer’s headquarters, stating that Israeli forces had seized property and materials from the organization’s offices.
Mardawi asserted that the operations were deliberately directed at Palestinian organisations documenting human rights violations and defending the rights of detained Palestinians.
He argued that such raids would fail to silence these groups, noting they would continue to document alleged Israeli violations and highlight Palestinian experiences.
Mardawi insisted that the operations would instead galvanize Palestinian institutions and political groups to intensify their defense of rights.
He maintained that Israeli military incursions, raids, and arrests would not deter Palestinians from protecting their land and religious sites.
Mardawi urged the international community and human rights organisations to intervene urgently, halt the operations, and ensure accountability for those responsible.
