The leader of Reform UK in Hampshire, George Madgwick, has been charged with 35 offences against four victims, including 12 counts of rape and making indecent images of a child, the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) announced on Tuesday.

The charges, which allegedly occurred between 2008 and 2021 in Portsmouth and Wales, cover a range of serious sexual and criminal offences. The 37‑year‑old councillor faces counts of rape, sexual assault, controlling or coercive behaviour, and making indecent images of a child. The victims were aged 16 and 17 at the time of the alleged incidents.

Madgwick, who leads the Reform UK group on Hampshire County Council, is scheduled to appear at Portsmouth Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, 25 November.

In total, he is accused of 12 counts of rape, two counts of assault by penetration, two counts of sexual assault, two counts of making indecent images of children, two counts of controlling or coercive behaviour, and eight counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

Additional charges include one count each of causing or inciting sexual exploitation of a child, distributing an indecent image of a child, stalking, making threats to kill, false imprisonment, theft, and criminal damage.

Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary launched an investigation on 24 July 2025 following a report of a sexual offence. Madgwick was first arrested on 6 January 2026, and the CPS formally charged him on Tuesday.
