The BBC has announced plans for a Blue Planet 3 orchestral tour featuring music composed by Hans Zimmer, with concert dates scheduled for May 2027 across the U.K.
Blue Planet 3, narrated by Sir David Attenborough, is set to premiere later this year. The six-part series continues its exploration of underwater ecosystems, with producers highlighting advancements in marine cinematography and storytelling.
“We will uncover life that is more surprising, more intelligent, and even more precious than we ever realized,” Attenborough said in a recent trailer. “We will discover the extraordinary relationship we have with the ocean—one that has never been more important to understand.”
Zimmer has returned to compose the score for Blue Planet 3, and his compositions will be showcased during the upcoming orchestral tour, which promises to deliver an immersive audiovisual experience alongside exclusive footage from the series.
“Blue Planet 3 Live In Concert” will be hosted by executive producer Elizabeth White, who will offer insights into the making of the series during each performance. The concerts will also feature exclusive footage projected on large screens, enhancing the orchestral presentation with stunning visuals of ocean life.
Zimmer’s score, developed with Bleeding Fingers Music collaborators Thom Lukas and Laurentia Editha, will be performed live by the City of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra. He remarked, “There’s nothing like experiencing this score live with an orchestra, especially when it’s paired with the extraordinary visuals of life underwater.”
‘Blue Planet 3 Live In Concert’ Tour Dates:
MAY 2027
21 – AO Arena, Manchester
22 – Bp Pulse LIVE, Birmingham
23 – OVO Hydro, Glasgow
TBC – London
Tickets for the announced shows will go on sale on Friday, October 16. Details for the upcoming London performance will be revealed shortly, with updates available for those who register interest in advance.
White noted, “Making Blue Planet 3 has taken us to places we never imagined filming. But there’s something about bringing that footage into a concert arena full of people, with the score performed live all around you, that will be truly special. This tour is our chance to share the series on a completely different scale, and I can’t wait to be there live, revealing the extraordinary stories behind what audiences are seeing on screen.”
The original Blue Planet first aired 25 years ago, with its sequel, Blue Planet 2, becoming the most-watched British program in 2017. Recently, it was announced that Jade, formerly of Little Mix, collaborated with Zimmer on the track “Into The Deep (Seas Cry)” for inclusion in Blue Planet 3.
