Israel Police is mobilizing resources in anticipation of nationwide haredi demonstrations scheduled for Wednesday, following calls from anti-draft activists, including the Jerusalem Faction, to disrupt traffic across the country.
Organized by Agudat Yisrael and supported by other haredi groups, vehicle convoys will depart simultaneously from 19 locations nationwide at 4:00 p.m., targeting major highways such as Routes 1, 4, and 6, as well as key infrastructure like the Aluf Sadeh and Ganot Interchanges.
The protests aim to protest mandatory military service and the detention of haredi men accused of draft evasion, with organizers stating that thousands of participants have already committed.
Police are implementing traffic management strategies to prevent gridlock, though they cannot exclude the possibility of unscheduled protests in Jerusalem based on social media reports. Authorities are closely monitoring developments to mitigate potential disruptions to critical transportation networks.
The organizers emphasized their demand for the immediate release of detainees from the “Torah world” and the cancellation of what they describe as “decrees targeting Torah students and their families,” framing the action as a moral imperative to prevent arrests for religious study.
The defense establishment maintains that the operations are legally mandated, reflecting government and court decisions on military service obligations.
