HBO Max and the New West End Company announced a landmark partnership on Wednesday, aiming to bring the magic of Harry Potter to Oxford Street this Christmas.
The collaboration will transform one of London’s most iconic shopping destinations into a festive celebration of one of the world’s most beloved stories, featuring a range of Harry Potter-inspired celebrations and attractions for shoppers, commuters, international visitors, and fans throughout the holiday season.
The partnership coincides with the Christmas launch of the new HBO original TV series, beginning with the eight-episode season of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, and the opening of the Harry Potter Shop on Oxford Street. Described as the UK’s largest official Harry Potter flagship store, it will open its doors to wizards, witches, and Muggles on November 4.
“Together, these initiatives will transform London’s West End with Hogwarts magic this festive season,” the partners stated.
Alongside Oxford Street’s iconic star Christmas lights, visitors this holiday season will enjoy a series of specially created illuminated designs that bring the world of Harry Potter to life.
Dee Corsi, CEO of the New West End Company, said: “This will be a historic moment for Oxford Street. Bringing the world of Harry Potter to the street will create an unforgettable Christmas experience and showcase the West End at its very best. It presents an exciting opportunity for retailers and a magical moment for shoppers, visitors, and fans alike.”
The financial terms of the deal have not been disclosed. Further details about the Christmas program, the official light switch-on, and more are expected in the coming weeks.
The New West End Company focuses on representing and keeping the West End thriving, as stated on its website. The organization keeps streets clean and safe, promotes world-class experiences, provides trusted data and insight, and advocates for policies that support growth. Its membership of over 800 includes global names in retail, leisure, hospitality, real estate, and business.
