Turkish defense technology company Havelsan and Egypt’s Arab Organization for Industrialization (AOI) have signed a commercial agreement to begin sales and distribution of their jointly developed Hamza-1 unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV). The contract was finalized during the El Alamein International Airshow 2026, marking a major milestone in the strategic partnership between the two firms.
The deal builds upon a cooperation framework signed in August 2025, which was established to manufacture vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL) drones in Egypt. The Hamza-1 platform combines Havelsan’s advanced autonomous systems engineering with AOI’s localized manufacturing infrastructure.
Havelsan drew upon its domestic expertise in drone technology, leveraging lessons learned from its own platforms such as the Baha, Bozbey, Poyraz, and Bulut. The initial prototype of the Hamza-1 was previously unveiled at the EDEX defense expo in Cairo.
With the signing of this commercial agreement, the joint partnership expects to start delivering the Hamza-1 drone to end-users. The successful commercialization of the platform highlights the growing defense industry cooperation between Türkiye and Egypt, as well as Havelsan’s global co-production strategy.
