At least four people have lost their lives following heavy rainfall and severe flooding in eastern Spain, prompting the evacuation of hundreds of residents. The hardest-hit areas include the Valencia and Alicante regions along Spain’s eastern Mediterranean coast.

In the town of Oliva, two fatalities were confirmed on Monday. Among the victims was a 79-year-old woman whose body was discovered at her residence, and a man who suffered a heart attack at a local campsite.

In Sagunto, a man drowned after being caught in rough waters while swimming at the beach. Meanwhile, in Catalonia, a woman died after falling into a swollen stream during the storm.

Emergency responders have successfully rescued over 450 individuals stranded by rising floodwaters. Many were airlifted to safety from rooftops, submerged buildings, and vehicles, while others were evacuated by boat.
