Hong Kong Customs Seize 13kg of Suspected Ketamine, Arrest Passenger from Germany

Hong Kong customs seized roughly 13 kg of suspected ketamine—worth an estimated HK$4.7 million (US$599,067)—at the city’s international airport. A passenger arriving from Germany was subsequently arrested for alleged drug trafficking.

According to the Customs and Excise Department, officials found the suspected ketamine in the checked luggage of a 22‑year‑old Japanese national who entered Hong Kong from Frankfurt on Sunday.

“During customs clearance, officers located about 13 kg of suspected ketamine inside his carry‑on suitcase. The man was then detained,” said the department, noting that the drug’s street value is estimated at approximately HK$4.7 million.

A formal investigation is ongoing, the authorities stated.
