Matthias Jaissle to Replace Eddie Howe as Newcastle United Manager<\/TITLE></p>
<p>Eddie Howe has stepped down as Newcastle United’s head coach. The club’s executives made the decision after talks with the hierarchy over the past 48 hours, even though Howe had already indicated his intention to leave several weeks earlier.</p>
<p>During this period, Howe remained dedicated to preparing the Newcastle squad for their season‑opening match against Liverpool on 23 August, which will be broadcast live on Sky Sports. His exit occurs 25 days before that game.</p>
<p>Matthias Jaissle, the 38‑year‑old German coach currently with Al Ahly, is the leading candidate to replace Howe, according to Sky Sports News, which reports that negotiations are well advanced.</p>
<p>Kieran McKenna and Antonio Conte were also mentioned as potential candidates on Newcastle’s shortlist.</p>
<p>Newcastle’s summer has been difficult following the sales of Sandro Tonali and Anthony Gordon, and the situation is compounded by uncertainty surrounding captain Bruno Guimarães, who has attracted interest from Arsenal.</p>
<p>These sales contributed to Howe’s decision, reflecting concerns about the composition of the squad for the upcoming campaign. Newcastle also transferred striker Alexander Isak to Liverpool for a British‑record £125 million last summer.</p>
<p>Howe has spent months reflecting on his tenure at Newcastle and believes the club can move forward this season, provided the club makes strong signings this summer.</p>
<p>Newcastle have signed 20‑year‑old winger Bazoumana Toure from Hoffenheim for £42 million, 18‑year‑old midfielder Sean Steur from Ajax for £23 million, and 20‑year‑old goalkeeper Ewen Jaouen from Reims for £18.5 million.</p>
<p>Nevertheless, the club missed out on Johan Manzambi, who chose to join Aston Villa, a setback for both Howe and Newcastle.</p>
<p>Howe is regarded as one of Newcastle’s greatest managers, having ended the club’s 70‑year trophy drought by winning the League Cup and guiding the team into the Champions League twice after securing consecutive top‑five Premier League finishes.</p>
<p>Last season, the club reached a new Champions League milestone, advancing further than ever before.</p>
<p>Howe’s final match as manager was a heavy 4‑1 pre‑season defeat to Championship side Bristol City on Wednesday night.</p>

</figcaption><h3>Howe cannot guarantee Bruno’s future amid ongoing transfer speculation</h3>
<p>In his final remarks, Howe declined to guarantee Bruno Guimarães’s future, noting that the player himself does not control his own destiny amid intense Arsenal interest.</p>
<p>Sky Sports News reported earlier this month that Guimarães told Newcastle he wishes to leave for a Premier League champion, though the club has no plans to sell the 28‑year‑old Brazilian.</p>
<p>When asked about Guimarães, who has not yet returned to training with his teammates after the World Cup, Howe said on Wednesday night: “Assurances? I don’t think you can force them. I have repeatedly emphasized that we need players who are committed.”</p>
<p>“Bruno has consistently demonstrated commitment. His training and match performances have been exceptional, and whenever he wears the shirt, he supports the fans. I hope that continues.”</p>
<p>“We want to retain our top players; they are invaluable, and acquiring and developing such talent is challenging.”</p>
<p>“Therefore, when we have players of his caliber, we aim to keep them, and Bruno clearly belongs in that category; he is an outstanding player.”</p>
<p>When asked whether the prolonged saga creates a negative atmosphere, Howe replied: “Any unhealthy distraction is detrimental. Yes.”</p>
<p>“However, we are not in control of the situation, and to some extent, Bruno himself is not in control either.”</p>
<p>“The outcome will unfold as it may. We cannot control the external forces, but we must ensure that when Bruno returns, we look after him, he trains well, and continues to make a difference as he always has.”</p>
