Hyderabad: Under a court order, district police handed over an Indonesian national, Indah Marlyan, to her country’s consulate on Saturday after recovering her from her husband’s custody. The woman had reported being subjected to domestic violence and filed a complaint with the Indonesian consulate in Karachi.

The consulate escalated the matter with Sindh government officials, prompting the women development department to file an application under Section 491 Cr.PC before the additional district judge-vice. Police detained Naik Mohammad Shaikh alias Mohammad Hamza Mirza, the alleged perpetrator, following the court’s directive.

According to the complainant, the woman was held in unlawful confinement at a residence in Qasimabad’s Gul Latif Housing Society after an August 8 protection application was filed. Police produced her before the court on August 13 as ordered, alongside her infant daughter, ensuring her safety under judicial supervision.
