Hyperliquid has announced that its HIP-4 upgrade will integrate decentralized prediction markets, initially supporting outcome trading within its decentralized exchange framework. The platform will later enable permissionless contract deployment for these markets, subject to validator-approved templates. Currently, all markets remain under validator oversight, as stated in a Telegram post from Sunday.
The development positions Hyperliquid to compete with established players like Polymarket and Kalshi in a rapidly expanding sector. Prediction markets allow users to speculate on event outcomes—ranging from economic policies to entertainment events—and have grown into a dominant blockchain-based financial niche. Recent examples include significant betting volumes tied to global events such as the FIFA World Cup final.
This surge in activity has prompted major centralized platforms, including Coinbase and Robinhood, to diversify into prediction markets, offering users consolidated access to both traditional and speculative trading instruments.
