IDF Lifts Security Restrictions for Communities Along Lebanon Border

The Israeli Defense Forces announced on Sunday that defensive guidelines for areas near the Lebanese border will return to “full activity” starting Monday.

Effective 6:00 a.m., all restrictions will be lifted in the Confrontation Line area, and the communities of Safsufa, Meron, Or HaGanuz, Bar Yochai, Yesud HaMa’ala, Kisra‑Sumei, Beit Jann, and Sde Eliezer will operate at full activity level.

The restrictions, in place for much of the past two and a half years, were a response to the ongoing conflict with Hezbollah and the risk of rockets and drones targeting border communities.

A ceasefire in Lebanon was included in the U.S.–Iran Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed last week. However, clashes in southern Lebanon following the ceasefire raise concerns about the MOU’s durability.

Earlier on Sunday, Hezbollah Secretary‑General Naim Qassem told Iran‑affiliated Tasnim News Agency that Israel “must leave Lebanon.”

Qassem labeled Israel the “aggressor” and warned that there would be “no safe zone” for IDF soldiers in southern Lebanon.

The Hezbollah leader also claimed that Israeli actions in Lebanon have exposed “humiliation” through the killing of Lebanese civilians.
