Indian activist Sonam Wangchuk halted his 26-day hunger strike after Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced plans to introduce stricter legislation targeting examination paper leaks.

The protest, which demanded the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, ended late Thursday following the Prime Minister’s social media assurance that a tougher law would be brought forward to address the issue.
