Protesters across India are celebrating the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, following weeks of intense demonstrations over widespread examination paper leaks and testing irregularities.
Tens of thousands of students and young job seekers had gathered in New Delhi demanding Pradhan’s departure, arguing that the compromised examinations had jeopardized their academic and professional futures. The protests, organized under the banner of the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) — a satirical movement that evolved into a national campaign — had drawn heavy police responses in recent days.
Following the minister’s resignation, CJP organizers announced the immediate suspension of their demonstrations. The movement, which began as a satirical initiative before gaining traction as a genuine vehicle for student grievances, had faced significant crackdowns by law enforcement throughout its campaign.
