Interra Health Adds Medicare GLP-1 Bridge Alerts for Eligible Prescriptions

Interra Health, a health technology platform focused on prescribing, announced Thursday that it now supports Medicare’s GLP-1 Bridge program.

Launched in July, the program enables eligible Medicare Part D beneficiaries to obtain certain GLP-1 medications for weight loss at a cost of $50 per month. The pilot is scheduled to run through December 31, 2027.

Interra Health was formed through the merger of DoseSpot, Arrive Health and pVerify. Its platform gives providers real-time coverage and cost information, lets patients view coverage and affordability details and surfaces benefit data for pharmacy benefit managers and payers.

When a provider prescribes an eligible GLP-1 medication to a Medicare patient, Interra Health’s solution can identify a possible qualification for the GLP-1 Bridge program. The alert advises the provider to add the appropriate ICD-10 code to the prescription and complete the required prior authorization to secure the discounted price.

“The GLP-1 Bridge program opens an important new affordability pathway for Medicare patients, but eligibility depends on specific medications, formulations and clinical criteria,” said JB Powell, Interra Health’s chief business development officer, in an email. “We saw an opportunity to make that information actionable for providers at the point of prescribing.”

Powell said the platform can surface relevant requirements within the prescribing workflow rather than asking clinicians to identify qualifying formulations or research program rules elsewhere. It is designed to help providers determine the appropriate next step for each patient.

Interra Health joined the program on July 1. Since then, it has sent more than 170,000 point-of-prescribing alerts and notified more than 30,000 unique prescribers.

Powell said Interra Health’s goal is to remove guesswork from the process by helping providers and patients determine whether a medication is covered, what it will cost, whether a more affordable alternative is available and what steps are required to obtain it.

By bringing prescribing, coverage, pricing and prior authorization information together, the company says it can support more informed treatment decisions while giving patients a clearer path from prescription to medication.
