Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has issued a direct appeal to American voters, asserting that the United States government under President Donald Trump “must be changed.”
In a lengthy open letter released on Tuesday, the IRGC urged Americans to “wake up” and “wrest control back from corrupt politicians.” The timing of the message coincides with the approaching midterm elections and marks seven months since the onset of the U.S.-Israel conflict against Iran.
“Now is the time, as the American political system is at its weakest,” the IRGC stated in the letter.
Addressed to “the honorable people of the United States of America,” the letter accuses the Trump administration of misleading the public regarding the ongoing war, Iran’s nuclear program, and control over the strategic Strait of Hormuz.
The IRGC also declared itself the victor in the conflict, claiming that U.S. efforts—including the use of thousands of bombs and missiles—have failed to meet their stated objectives, such as halting Iran’s nuclear activities.
“The United States and Israel targeted numerous facilities, including weapons manufacturing sites and military installations, yet achieved no meaningful strategic gains beyond limited damage to nuclear-related infrastructure,” the letter claimed.
The correspondence distinguishes between the U.S. government and its citizens, drawing comparisons between the grievances of both populations. “The nations of Iran and America are both, each in their own way, victims of the same corrupt ruling elite,” the letter read. “We share the same pain.”
The letter explains that the slogan “Death to America” is directed at the political establishment rather than the American people, framing it as a symbolic rejection of what it terms “diabolical rulers” centered in the White House.
Accusations of Deception
Speaking to reporters, IRGC spokesperson Hossein Mohebbi echoed the letter’s sentiments, labeling President Trump an “inveterate liar” and suggesting that many Americans are unaware of the true costs of their government’s policies.
“If the American people were fully informed, they would surely hold their leaders accountable,” Mohebbi said.
The White House has not yet responded to requests for comment.
While Trump has cited Iran’s nuclear ambitions as justification for military action, Iran maintains that its uranium enrichment program is entirely peaceful. Mohebbi reiterated this stance, stating, “The enemy knows Iran is not pursuing nuclear weapons.”
Regarding the Strait of Hormuz, Mohebbi dismissed U.S. claims of restored access, arguing that limited naval movement does not signify true openness. Despite ongoing restrictions, recent data shows oil exports through the strait have recovered to roughly 77% of pre-war levels.
As diplomatic channels remain active, Trump recently hinted at a potential post-election resolution with Iran, weighing options between negotiation and escalation during his address to the United Nations General Assembly.
“Will a deal be made that allows Iran to rebuild and become one of the greatest nations in the Middle East—or do I move toward annihilation?” Trump asked rhetorically.
The midterm elections on November 3 could significantly influence the trajectory of U.S. foreign policy toward Iran, depending on shifts in congressional control.
