TEHRAN: Iran’s Revolutionary Guards navy intercepted six vessels attempting to navigate the Strait of Hormuz via unauthorized routes on Monday, state television reported.
“Last night, six vessels that attempted to transit through a route other than the designated one were stopped by the IRGC Navy with warning shots and turned back,” a state television correspondent stated from the Gulf.
Earlier reports from state TV mentioned an “incident” involving one vessel, though details remain undisclosed.
On Saturday, the Guards claimed they had halted four vessels trying to pass through the southern section of the strait after firing warning shots. Iran has effectively imposed a blockade on the Strait of Hormuz since the outbreak of the Middle East conflict in late February.
