Is Nepal leading the battle for climate justice?

Nepal’s foreign minister is urging the world’s largest greenhouse gas emitters to compensate the nation after a recent catastrophic floods event. The official stressed that China, the United States, and India should bear financial responsibility for the devastation caused locally.

Despite contributing minimally to worldwide emission totals, Nepal finds itself confronting a humanitarian crisis precipitated by factors beyond its own control.

“Can a domestic tragedy translate into actionable international accountability?” the minister posed.
