Israel reported conducting a drone strike against a ‘terrorist’ in southern Syria on Saturday, which Syria’s foreign ministry described as an attack on a civilian vehicle near Damascus, citing ‘blatant’ territorial violation.
Syria’s foreign ministry stated the drone strike targeted a vehicle near Beit Jinn village west of Damascus, resulting in civilian injuries.
State media reported one casualty from the incident.
Israeli forces claimed the strike targeted a ‘terrorist’ posing an immediate threat to troops, though the method of attack remains undisclosed.
Tensions between Israel and Syria escalated after Israel bombed an airbase in the northwest on Tuesday, a move deemed ‘unnecessary’ by US special envoy to Syria, Tom Barrack.
Syria’s foreign ministry emphasized the attack as part of a recurring pattern of Israeli aggression against Syrian territory, condemning it as a ‘blatant violation’ of sovereignty and urging accountability for consequences.
