The Tel Aviv District Police Central Unit apprehended an additional suspect Tuesday in connection with the July 13 grenade assault against a Japanika eatery in Kiryat Ono during overnight hours, according to law enforcement sources.
The newly detained individual, a 20-year-old male resident of Bat Yam, faces charges after undergoing interrogation by central unit investigators. A magistrate’s court hearing for detention extension determination will occur tomorrow morning.
This marks the second Bat Yam resident charged in connection with the escalating campaign against Japanika establishments, following Thursday’s arrest of an 18-year-old local youth suspected of involvement in the same operation.
Upon detecting a series of security breaches, authorities reported two confirmed grenade detonations, one retrieved explosive pipe device, and suspicious arson attempt involving incendiary materials. Multiple Japanika locations became apparent targets, including flagship outlets in Herzliya and Rishon Letzion.
Police disclosed that 47-year-old Yossi Musli, head of a criminal organization specializing in territorial conflicts, was detained following the initial incident with multiple previous convictions for violence against rival business entities. Prosecutors allege the chain of attacks represents coordinated efforts to eliminate commercial competition.
