The State of Israel’s official Arabic-language Twitter account recently published education statistics for the country’s Muslim population, referencing data from the Central Bureau of Statistics. The information was shared to coincide with the Islamic holiday of Eid al-Adha (Festival of Sacrifice).
The published statistics indicated that Israel’s Muslim population maintains a growth rate of 1.8%, comprising nearly 19% of the country’s total population, with the largest concentration residing in Jerusalem.
According to the data, over three-quarters of Israel’s approximately 409,000 Muslim students are eligible for the Bagrut certificate (high school diploma), while nearly 50,000 Muslim students are enrolled in Israeli higher education institutions.
The report emphasized particularly noteworthy progress among female Muslim students, who now outnumber their male counterparts by more than double in first-year university degree enrollment—a statistic the post characterized as “surprising information.”
Beyond educational achievements, the data also highlighted workforce participation patterns, showing that approximately 50% of Muslim citizens engage in the Israeli labor force, with male participation exceeding female participation by more than 50%.
The concluding message invited comparative discussion, asking readers, “How is the situation in your countries?” and requesting additional information for further analysis.
