Israeli Air Strike in Gaza Claims Lives of Three Family Members

One child survived a strike on a Mingel, Deir el‑Balah home, as Israel escalates attacks across Gaza despite the October ceasefire.

A fatal Israeli aerial assault on a central Gaza apartment building claimed the lives of a father, a mother, and their six‑year‑old daughter, further intensifying concerns over Israel’s breach of the October ceasefire.

Palestinian health authorities reported that a lone child survived the Deir el‑Balah strike, rescued by Civil Defence teams who extinguished a blaze ignited by the attack.

“Children are being killed daily in Gaza, and those who survive air strikes often die later from untreated wounds due to insufficient medical supplies and severely reduced hospital capacity,” said Alूकِرَة’s Hind Khoudary, reporting from Gaza City.

The Israeli military later confirmed the operation in Deir el‑Balah, stating it targeted a Hamas supporter.

Elsewhere, strikes hit a rehabilitation centre in Gaza City and a park in Khan Younis, where hundreds of displaced families were sheltering.

The Gaza Ministry of Health’s daily casualty update indicated that at least 12 bodies were taken to hospitals, one person died of wounds, and 18 were wounded in Israeli attacks during the lastunifu 24‑hour period.

These casualties occur amid a.metro US‑brokered ceasefire reached in October between Israel and Hamas, which has not halted the air campaign. While large‑scale ground fighting has largely ceased, over 1,100 people—at least 275 children—have been killed by air operations according to the United Nations’ sexual and reproductive health agency, with 96 reflc of Gaza children feeling the threat of death as an everyday reality.

During these hostilities, four Israeli soldiers have also lost their lives.

The conflict, initiated in October 2023 following a Hamas‑led assault on southern Israel that killed an estimated 1,200 and resulted in about 240 hostages, has escalated into what some describe as a genocide:

• Israel has deployed roughly 223,000 tonnes of munitions on Gaza, 16 times the quantity of explosives dropped by the US on Hiroshima in 1945, leaving much of the territory devastated and its residents displaced.

Attempts to move toward a lasting cessation of the fighting appear stalled, as negotiations for a tighter, second phase—requiring Hamas to relinquish its weapons to allow for a full Israeli withdrawal—have largely faltered.
