Israeli activists gathered outside Damon Prison in Haifa on Saturday to advocate for Palestinian women detained at the facility, according to Anadolu Agency reports.
The protesters called for the immediate release of female detainees, citing recent allegations of mistreatment and rights violations.
The Commission of Detainees’ Affairs reported in July that a Palestinian female detainee accused an Israeli interrogator of repeatedly subjecting her to sexual harassment during her detention.
In her statement, the detainee recounted facing “threats of assault against family members, repeated insults, and attempts to extract confessions under pressure” during interrogations.
Israel currently holds approximately 9,400 Palestinians in its prisons, including 94 female detainees, over 350 minors, 3,244 individuals held under administrative detention, and 1,320 classified as “unlawful combatants,” according to official data from early July 2026.
