Israeli President Isaac Herzog on Wednesday sharply condemned what he described as racist remarks directed at the country’s Arab minority during the election season. His comments followed repeated allegations by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu accusing Arab-majority political lists of electoral fraud.
“I hold Arab society in Israel in great respect,” Herzog stated while receiving the official election results. “I value its contribution to the country in every sphere of life and its desire to integrate — a development that should be welcomed. I condemn the vulgarity and racist expressions we have heard recently.”
