Israeli Security Agency Thwarts Assassination Plot Against Ben-Gvir; Two Suspects Charged in Nablus

The Shin Bet and the Judea and Samaria District Police’s Counterterrorism Unit announced on Wednesday that two Palestinians have been indicted for promoting terrorist activities, acquiring weapons, conducting shooting training, recruiting operatives, and plotting deadly attacks in Nablus.

Interrogations revealed that in 2024, the suspects began plotting an attack against National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir. According to the indictment, after viewing a video of the minister arriving at the scene of an attack, one suspect proposed a “drive-by attack” to assassinate him upon arrival. He subsequently suggested utilizing an explosive drone for the assassination attempt and attempted to secure assistance in purchasing drone components from China.

The indictment states that the two individuals collaborated from late 2023 onward to advance “military” operations. They procured a wide array of weaponry, including M16 and M4 rifles, Kalashnikovs, handguns, a hunting rifle, and ammunition.

They also recruited and trained additional terror operatives, conducted shooting drills, and devised various attack scenarios targeting Israeli civilians and security personnel.

The investigation further uncovered their involvement in advancing plans for deadly attacks using explosive vehicles and drones targeting Israeli civilians and security forces, as well as plotting shooting attacks and the abduction of IDF soldiers.

The court repeatedly extended the suspects’ detention, and following the establishment of an evidentiary basis by the Judea and Samaria District Police’s Counterterrorism Unit and the Shin Bet, the Samaria Military Prosecution filed indictments against them. They will remain in custody until the legal proceedings are concluded.

“I have a message for all those enemies: This won’t deter me or scare me,” he wrote in a post on X/Twitter. “I will continue to lead a tough policy in the prisons, continue to lead the policy of demolishing illegal construction in the Negev, and continue to ensure that the death penalty law we passed is enforced and implemented.”

“They fear and tremble at the thought that I will be the Defense Minister, because they know full well: With me, there are no compromises and no leniencies. What I say—I do.”
