An Israeli strike in central Gaza has killed three Palestinian police officers and injured several others.

The Palestinian Ministry of the Interior and National Security condemned the attack, which took place in the Maghazi refugee camp in Deir el‑Balah on Friday, identifying the victims as police personnel.

“Their vehicle was treacherously bombed by the Israeli occupation forces,” the ministry said in a statement posted on Telegram. It named the deceased as Captain Mansour Sami Shahtout, Captain Mohammed Khaled Nofal, and First Sergeant Mahdi Nader Jabr.

Wafa, the Palestinian news agency, reported that an Israeli combat drone targeted a vehicle near the entrance of the Maghazi refugee camp. Anadolu Agency said the drone fired at least two missiles, causing the vehicle to catch fire. Video footage captured a civilian vehicle ablaze on Salah al‑Din Street at the camp’s entrance.

The bodies were taken to Al‑Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in Deir el‑Balah. The ministry described the attack as a heinous crime that targeted civil police, illustrating a persistent intent to spread chaos across the Gaza Strip. It urged the international community and the guarantor states of the ceasefire agreement to pressure the occupying forces to halt repeated attacks on police personnel and infrastructure.

The US‑brokered ceasefire has been in effect since October 10, 2025, but violations persist across the enclave. According to Gaza’s Health Ministry, Israeli breaches of the ceasefire have resulted in 1,031 Palestinian deaths and 3,309 injuries as of Thursday, bringing the total since the conflict began in October 2023 to over 73,000 killed.

Gaza ‘ceasefire’ developments

Hamas said consultations are ongoing with other Palestinian factions and regional mediators to secure full implementation of the Gaza ceasefire, including mechanisms for the second phase. Hamas spokesman Hazem Qassem told Anadolu that a delegation from Hamas and allied factions will travel to Cairo soon to present their response to proposed approaches.

“We hope the mediators and Mr Mladenov’s efforts will compel the occupation to implement the agreed humanitarian provisions of the first phase and proceed to the second phase,” Qassem said. He accused Israel of committing continuous ceasefire violations, such as restricting humanitarian aid and expanding the “yellow line” while carrying out home demolitions and displacement.

“These violations require a clear stance from the mediators to pressure the occupation and serious work to bring the national committee into Gaza so genuine relief and reconstruction can begin,” Qassem added. “We must not allow the policy of starvation and ongoing bloodshed to continue while the world watches.”
