Israeli strike on a northern Gaza home kills four, including two children

An Israeli strike in Gaza on Thursday killed four members of one family, including two children, Palestinian hospital and security officials said. The Israeli military said it had targeted a military operative.

According to an official at Al-Shifa hospital in Gaza City, four members of the Ahmad family were recovered in fragments after an Israeli strike hit a house in the Beit Lahia Project area of northern Gaza. The children were aged 12 and eight.

The Israeli military said it had struck a military structure from which terrorists had previously been identified as operating.

The military said the strike killed Muamen Abd al-Rahman Ahmad, whom it described as a military operative who had directly participated in combat against Israeli forces in breach of the ceasefire.

A source in Gaza’s Hamas-run security forces said Israeli warplanes attacked after midnight in Beit Lahia and separately in the center of the Jabalia refugee camp. The source said forces also fired on ambulances and tents housing displaced people.

The source condemned what they described as continuing Israeli violations in the Gaza Strip.

Five other people were killed in three separate Israeli strikes across the southern Gaza Strip on Thursday, bringing the day’s total to nine, the territory’s civil defence agency said.

The agency said three of those victims died in a drone strike near Khan Yunis.

Israel agreed to a ceasefire brokered by the United States in October 2025, but has since advanced further into the enclave.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has pledged to maintain pressure on Hamas, which carried out the 7 October 2023 attack on Israel, and says Israel will not withdraw from Gaza until the group gives up all of its weapons.

The Gaza health ministry says Israeli strikes have killed more than 1,300 people since the ceasefire was declared; its figures are generally regarded as reliable by the United Nations. During the same period, the Israeli military reported five deaths among its personnel and one civilian contractor.
