Jacob Chase Returns to Direct Blumhouse Atomic Monster’s ‘Sleepover’ with Fall 2027 Release

Blumhouse Atomic Monster is continuing their collaboration with Insidious: Out of the Further director Jacob Chase on the upcoming Universal horror feature, Sleepover.

The film is scheduled to hit theaters on October 8, 2027, with Universal having already secured that release date for an unnamed Blumhouse Atomic Monster project.

This announcement follows the successful debut of Insidious: Out of the Further, which grossed $60.3 million globally over its opening weekend (released through Sony Screen Gems and Stage 6), elevating the 16-year-old PG-13 horror franchise to $800 million worldwide at the box office.

Chase will direct from a screenplay he’s co-writing with Night Swim‘s Bryce McGuire, based on McGuire’s original short story. The project is described as the “quintessential sleepover nightmare.” Jason Blum is producing, while Chase, McGuire, and Bea Sequeira serve as executive producers.

Lilly Tyson is overseeing the project for Blumhouse Atomic Monster. Sleepover is a Cinescape Entertainment production, presented by Universal Pictures and Blumhouse Atomic Monster.

Chase is represented by CAA, Gang, Tyre, Ramer, Brown & Passman, and The Initiative Group. McGuire is represented by Gersh and Ziffren Brittenham.
