Jacksonville Jaguars rookie cornerback Travis Hunter drew high praise from Hall of Fame legend Champ Bailey following his impressive performance against the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday.

Hunter limited opposing receivers to four completions on seven targets for 26 yards, while adding two pass breakups and restricting targeted quarterbacks to a 58.2 passer rating.

“You can see him getting comfortable with playing outside. ..The dude is a playmaker,” Bailey said while appearing on ‘Up & Adams.’

Bailey cited parallels between his own career and Hunter’s, noting that both have demonstrated versatility by contributing on offense.

Although Bailey believes Hunter possesses the talent to excel at wide receiver, he insists the rookie must first solidify his role as a cornerback before taking on additional offensive responsibilities.

“To have corners with his ball skills and athleticism, it’s rare,” Bailey added. “It’s rare to have somebody that dialed in to football play corner.”

Bailey expressed confidence that Hunter’s natural abilities would translate into immediate success at the cornerback position.

“He can be a top 5 corner within no time,” Bailey added.

Through four games, Hunter has allowed a 59% completion rate on 17 targets, recording three pass breakups, one interception, and a 58.2 passer rating when targeted.
