Jaissle Takes the Helm at Newcastle, Ready for New Challenge

The summer has been marked by turbulence on Tyneside, following the departure of head coach Eddie Howe and the exits of key players such as Bruno Guimarães, Sandro Tonali, and Anthony Gordon.

Jaissle perceives this situation as an opportunity and chooses not to dwell on the league’s financial constraints, which have limited the club’s spending power and necessitate strategic trades.

“I thrive on challenges,” the former Al‑Ahli and Red Bull Salzburg manager remarked. “I view every challenge as a chance to grow, which is why I am here.”

“Complaining about the timing, the extensive transition, or the club’s sales would be unproductive,” he added.

“We will have no excuses.”

Newcastle have recruited six young players — Lukas Hornicek, Ewen Jaouen, Amar Dedic, Sean Steur, Aladji Bamba, and Bazoumana Toure — who are all under 25 and will require time to adjust to the Premier League’s physicality and intensity.

Additional reinforcements are expected, and Jaissle is “confident that changes will occur” before the summer transfer window closes on 1 September.

The German coach remains undeterred despite pundits forecasting difficulties for his side.

“Everyone seems to be against us or doubts our ability to compete in the Premier League,” he said.

“We aim to prove them wrong and demonstrate our capability.”

Achieving this will hinge on “sticking together,” echoing the sentiments expressed by Howe during his four‑and‑a‑half tenure.

Jaissle has already reached out to his predecessor, who secured the club’s first silverware in 2025 and guided Newcastle to multiple Champions League qualifications.

While he prefers to keep the details of that conversation private, Jaissle stated he “has immense respect for what he accomplished and built.”

“He is not only an excellent manager,” he said, “but also a remarkable human being.”
