As host of the Emmys on NBC, Mariska Hargitay showcased her devotion to the New York Knicks by incorporating a cameo from the team’s star, Jalen Brunson, into the opening segment.
The ceremony began with Hargitay, known for her role in “Law & Order: SVU,” appearing in a stunning gold gown as she addressed the audience, conveying the immense pressure of hosting by asking, “Have you ever felt like you have millions of eyes on you and it all comes down to one night?”
The scene then transitions to Brunson, who is seen wearing his blue Knicks jersey, adding a sports twist to the Hollywood event.
In response, Brunson queries with a sense of disbelief, “Seriously?”
Hargitay retorts playfully, “Hey Jalen, it’s just me, alright. I don’t have anyone to tap it in for me,” referencing the memorable Game 4 moment where OG Anunoby scored the winning basket after Brunson’s shot missed.
The mutual admiration between Hargitay and Brunson is well-established, with the actress being a prominent celebrity supporter of the Knicks. She was frequently seen during their championship campaign, including a heartfelt embrace with Brunson after the pivotal Game 4 victory.
Following the intense game, Hargitay expressed her joy, saying, “I love you so much; I’m so happy.”
Brunson has previously shared his enthusiasm for “Law & Order: SVU,” mentioning on “The Roommates Show” podcast that he was a longtime viewer of the series.
He recalled, “You constantly hear the iconic ‘dun-dun’ theme song around the house. My dad watches TV at a very high volume, so it echoes throughout.”
Brunson has admitted to feeling starstruck during their initial encounter.
He described the moment: “When I saw Mariska, I thought, ‘Oh s–t.’ The first meeting was fantastic; we conversed and everything.”
