Major League Cricket (MLC) 2026 witnessed another captivating bowling performance on Thursday as USA pace bowler Jasdeep Singh dismantled the Washington Freedom batting order during their match against the Seattle Orcas. The Freedom, chasing a formidable target of 228, needed a solid start from their seasoned top order, but Singh had other plans as he tore through the lineup with a spectacular new‑ball spell.

The right‑arm seamer generated sharp movement off the pitch and continuously troubled batters with his scrambled‑seam delivery. After removing Steven Smith earlier in the innings, Singh returned for his second over and delivered two brilliant deliveries that left both Andries Gous and Glenn Maxwell scoreless. The wickets instantly shifted momentum in Seattle’s favour and sparked enthusiastic celebrations among the Orcas.

Jasdeep Singh’s consecutive masterpieces dismiss Andries Gous and Glenn Maxwell

The incident occurred in the fifth over of Washington Freedom’s innings. On the first ball of that over, Singh bowled a cunning length delivery with a scrambled seam that sharply turned after pitching. Gous attempted a defensive block but was beaten on the inside edge as the ball struck middle and leg stumps, sending the stumps flying.

If the first wicket was impressive, the second was even more astonishing. Facing his very first ball, Maxwell was met with another delivery that pitched on a similar length before angling back through the gate. The Australian veteran remained rooted to the crease and offered a tentative defensive push, only to watch the ball slip between bat and pad and shatter the top of off‑stump.

Singh erupted in celebration after claiming the double strike, while Maxwell walked back without scoring. The twin wickets put the bowler on a hat‑trick and left Washington Freedom reeling early in their massive chase. The footage quickly went viral on social media, with fans lauding Singh for delivering one of the tournament’s finest bowling spells.

While Singh’s fiery spell captured headlines, the Seattle Orcas delivered a comprehensive team performance to secure a convincing 88‑run victory. Electing to bat first, the Orcas posted a massive 227/6 in their 20 overs. Shimron Hetmyer spearheaded the innings with an unbeaten 79 off just 33 balls, and captain Marcus Stoinis dramatically altered the momentum with a blistering 42 off only 16 deliveries, featuring five sixes in a single over. Tim Seifert contributed 37 at the top of the order, and Matthew Breetzke added valuable runs before Marco Jansen emerged as Washington’s most threatening bowler, finishing with figures of 3/33.

In reply, Washington Freedom struggled to build any momentum after Singh ripped through the top order. The seamer finished with impressive figures of 5/24, claiming the scalps of Smith, Gous, Maxwell, Jack Edwards and Jansen. The Freedom were reduced to 42/5 within the Powerplay and could not recover, even as Amila Aponso posted a late unbeaten 31. Kyle Gannon added two crucial wickets, and Seattle ultimately bowled out the defending champions for 139, securing a comprehensive victory that moved them to second place on the MLC 2026 points table.
