Jasrado Prince Hermis Arrington Chisholm Jr., known to fans as Jazz, won’t be chasing Shohei Ohtani’s historic 50-50 season after previously suggesting he might during spring training. Still, even during what has been his most challenging campaign, he is on pace to easily exceed 20 home runs and 40 RBIs. More importantly, that’s not what’s driving him right now.
“Just win the World Series … it’s the only goal I got right now,” Chisholm said after contributing to the Yankees’ sixth win in their last seven games.
The Yankees enter the stretch run with a strong opportunity to reach the Fall Classic, particularly given the relative weakness of this year’s American League playoff field. However, their success will largely depend on maintaining player health. Chisholm, one of the most dynamic talents on the team, is well-positioned to influence that outcome—for better or worse.
Despite facing inconsistency this season, Chisholm remains one of the most skilled players on the Yankees’ $320 million roster. With a significant portion of the team’s payroll currently sidelined due to injuries, his role has become increasingly vital. The return of Cody Bellinger provided a modest boost to their active roster, offset slightly by Ryan Weathers being placed on the injured list. These moves brought the total value of inactive Yankees from $156 million down to $108 million, underscoring just how much talent has been unavailable this season.
